I'm a Pod-Person!

Check out Podcast #401 from the website SecretIdentityPodcast.com. The spotlight is on amazing artist Francis Manapaul (the Flash) but at the 11:00 minute mark you can hear Matt and Brian's review of 'DC Super-Pets: Royal Rodent Rescue' written by yours truly!
(though they mispronounce Sazaklis, I can't fault them since I get it wrong sometimes, too.)
I'm still geeking out about it, and you can catch more of their reviews and news at:

Thundercats...HO!

I've been working on a Thundercats project while watching the rebooted animated series and was inspired to draw the original characters from memory. I love these characters and I'm happy to see them back on TV. Looks like Panthro's a bit younger and Lion-O has been heavily influenced by Bruce Timm's animated Batman. Also, Cheetara was my first crush. :) Enjoy!

Triton vs Hercules

I drew this after being inspired by a piece at the Acropolis Museum. Part of the Parthenon's frieze depicted the demigod grappling with the Son of Poseidon. Looking at it again after a few months I realized that this image has been buried in my subconscious for 20 years.

In 1991, I got my hands on my first ever Aquaman comic book. Issue #4, with cover art by the VERY talented Kevin Maguire. I remember staring at it for hours. Now, two decades later, it resurfaced. See for yourselves:

Off to Neverland!

Last night Nicoletta and I saw 'Peter Pan' the musical at the Madison Square Garden Theater. Man, I forgot how much fun it is to be a kid for a little while, and how much I love the world of Peter Pan. Pirates, Indians, aerial sword-fights, and mermaids. That's all anyone needs this holiday season, really.

New York Times Best-Selling Author!

What?! How did that happen? I still can't believe it, but 'Gotham's Villains Unleashed' made it to the Graphic Picture Books list at #4.
http://www.nytimes.com/best-sellers-books/2011-10-02/paperback-graphic-books/list.html
This happened back in October, but better late than never. Kudos to everyone who worked on this project to make it awesome and even more to those who boosted the sales! It's pretty shocking to even be anywhere near such classics as Watchmen, Maus, and Scott Pilgrim, but here we are. DAMN!

Super Hero Seeks Sidekick

Holy Happenstance! The fourth Batman book I wrote has released just in time for Thanksgiving. So, yes, I have many things to be thankful for; especially working with some awesome people at Harper, DC Comics and beyond. Wonderfully illustrated by the real dynamic duo of Steve and Eric Gordon, this book is on sale now!!
